Xmas in the mountains was a blast! We stayed in a beautiful ryokan set in a small town. We enjoyed a beautiful dinner served in our room with lots of dishes, including a wide variety of fish. Breakfast was a traditional Japanese breakfast served in a large room, and we loved every bite. the outdoor bath was awesome, especially with the snow falling around us. the staff were also super nice and seemed excited to have foreign guests. the building was a little tired and could use some cosmetic touch up, but it didn't take away from the overall atmosphere of the ryokan. the bathroom was across the hall, so keep that in mind. it was easy to access and didn't cause much of an inconvenience. the language barrier was a bit of an issue, as minimal English was spoken, but the staff were super accommodating, so it didn't dampen our experience. the location was perfect if you're looking for a quiet getaway in the mountains.

The meals at this ryokan were outstanding! We had a beautiful dinner served in our room, with a wide variety of delicious fish dishes. The traditional Japanese breakfast in the large dining room was also top-notch. Another thing we loved was the baths. The hot spring baths were amazing, especially the outdoor one. We soaked in the warm water while watching the snow falling, it was truly blissful. Lastly, the staff were incredibly nice and welcoming, making us feel like honored guests during our romantic escape.
The building itself was a bit tired and could use some cosmetic touch-ups. the fact that the bathroom was not inside our room was a little inconvenient, although it was easily accessible across the hall.
